The Associate Creative Director (ACD) will assist in the direction, and development of the commercial, healthcare design team and deliverables. In this pivotal role, the ACD will be instrumental in shaping and enhancing Simpson Healthcare’s commercial advertising and design offerings.  The position places a strong emphasis on experience, strategic and creative writing development for in-market and launch of commercially available medicines. As a hands-on creative leader, you will help develop, and guide a team of talented art directors, designers, and writers. Alternately offering mentorship, inspiration, and strategic direction to deliver innovative and impactful creative solutions that not only meet but exceed client expectations and support business objectives.

The ACD will report indirectly to the Creative Director while being assigned to specific client engagements. The ACD will thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. Working closely with Senior Client Services Directors and Sales & Marketing Communications teams.  Includes working with teams of producers, marketing directors, writers, photographers, digital and video specialists, to ensure seamless integration and execution of creative projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Creation and Development of Scientific Concepts and Content

  • Leads assigned creative teams in the execution of ideas to a high level of creative excellence
  • Assists and oversees creation of concepts for presentation to clients, developing compelling and captivating presentations that are organized, professional and effective in support of client strategy
  • Creates and presents content in a variety of media in support of client strategy and objectives
  • Critically reviews technical and scientific reports from external sources for inclusion as a resource for content development
  • Identifies, develops, recommends and/or negotiates scientifically sound, creative solutions to meet clients’ critical business needs

Partner with Key Stakeholders in Meeting Project Objectives

  • Works with the Creative Director to assess, build, and manage assigned teams
  • Directly interacts with client to ensure client objectives are met
  • Collaboratively interacts with scientists internally and from all partners
  • Partners with internal and external partners to develop and implement a compliant strategy and framework for the delivery and communication of key scientific, pipeline, or clinical insights in line with client objectives
  • Has continuous awareness of current trends within the industry and establishes global best practices regarding system(s) enhancement, usage, and training

Collaborate with Internal Teams

  • Provides status on all assigned projects to Client Services to ensure adherence to timelines and to ensure that clients are informed of any potential changes or delays
  • Contributes ideas for use in proposal development
  • Supports Marketing by maintaining awareness of medical marketing and communications environment

Internal Team Management

  • Lead by example. Adhere to all SOP’s and assist staff in adherence to same
  • Ensure staff understands responsibilities and duties both for specific projects assigned and as relates to SOPs
  • Supervise and train staff members. Align with Creative Director on staff growth and development for team members, including opportunities to assume new responsibilities, expanding skill sets, and providing constructive feedback
  • Create a positive work environment, fostering a team approach, encouraging open communication
  • Assign projects to assigned staff in accordance with staff experience, growth, and bandwidth. Identify needed modifications and/or new systems, tools, and processes to enable team and company effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Liaise with other departments to deliver projects as needed inclusive of changes in scope, priority, timing, and/or content

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed to Perform this Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, computer graphics, marketing, advertising, or related field required  
  • 8 to 12 years of experience in medical communications, marketing or advertising preferred
  • 5 to 7 years of AOR healthcare commercial experience (building and designing deliverables such as websites, brochures, materials, emailers, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience of highly creative designs for digital and print
  • Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Word), Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other industry standard digital software
  • Familiarity with both Mac and Windows environments
  • Demonstrated experience applying best practices in user interface and interactive design
  • Proven ability to identify key deliverables and implement a creative schedule that meets all stakeholder needs.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Strong communicator both in written and verbal forms with a proven ability to effectively establish and nurture client, internal, and staff relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong organization and time management skills
  • Great team player with a strong drive and willingness to take initiative
  • Curiosity and aptitude for continuous thinking, learning and collaboration

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $91,400.00 - $167,500.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
