As an Associate Manager - Hematology, you will be responsible for supervising a team of laboratory staff and assisting with the administration of laboratory testing in accordance with applicable regulations governing clinical laboratories.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supervising a team of lab staff and ensuring effective operational delivery.
- Setting day-to-day operational activities for the team with a focus on daily delivery.
- Hiring, training, and managing the performance of staff under the mentorship of management.
- Delegating tasks, provide technical skills training, and supervise daily activities of assigned laboratory work groups.
- Monitoring inventory of reagents and supplies to ensure adequate levels for deliverables and ensuring spending is within the approved budget.
- Ensuring team activities meet safety guidelines and driving individual accountability for safety.
- Reviewing laboratory metrics to identify initiatives and establishing additional metrics such as cost savings associated with process improvement initiatives.
- Partnering with stakeholders on process improvement initiatives to present projects and ensure goals are met.
- Acting as a backup in any area of daily laboratory operations.
- Ensuring operations meet quality guidelines and resolving CAPA and quality incidents timely and appropriately.
- Ensuring policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers, and stakeholders.
- Assisting in establishing and revising laboratory policies and procedures, maintaining appropriate control and quality assurance procedures, and ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
- Keeping abreast of new technical developments and assisting with implementing new tests, equipment, programs, and procedures as needed.
- Fostering a unified culture and facilitating collaboration, cooperation, sharing of information, and teamwork.
- Participating in initiatives to improve employee engagement to positively impact operational results, customer satisfaction, and employee retention.
- Managing staff in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable regulations.
- Supporting safety, quality, and 6S requirements and initiatives.
- Complying with the company’s procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (Some CAP/CLIA lab locations may require a BSc in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or cytotechnology).
- Typically requires more than 5 years in a regulated environment.
- More than 4 years of experience in a relevant discipline laboratory.
- Demonstrated ability to train and mentor others, as well as navigate challenges in operational and people matters.
- Other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this role:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, close eye work requirement (computer, typing, reading small prints). Physical demands vary depending on the assigned work area and work tasks. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures.
- Strong understanding of specific area of responsibility, operations, and methods.
- In-depth knowledge of Hematology, testing procedures, and applicable laboratory testing regulations.
- Working knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles and in-depth knowledge of company-specific program requirements.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $77,700.00 - $129,500.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time).
