Job Overview

This position will be instrumental to the successful growth and development of IQVIA Biotech’s Internal Medicine Division, predominantly serving as a strategic consultant for clients, as well as internal liaison across functional areas with a focus on therapeutic differentiation and securing new business.  Specific functions include new study strategy and proposal development, sales process/team training and support, and cross-functional process enhancement.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with Vice President, Internal Medicine and the Director of Internal Medicine Strategy to develop a sales strategy with emerging biopharma companies to enable the Internal Medicine Division (IMD) to achieve its near and long-term authorization, revenue and profitability goals

  • Supports IQVIA Biotech’s (IQB) global sales and proposals teams and processes with training, messaging, content development, and strategic planning towards achievement of above

  • Guides efforts dedicated to IMD throughout the sales cycle, with particular focus on initial positioning with potential clients and strategic participation throughout the proposal and bid defense process; Ultimate goal is optimization of IQB ability to capture new business (maximizing new business hit rate) and alignment with internal capabilities to assure quality delivery and repeat business

  • Supports IQBs global sales teams by developing relationships with potential clients during the pre-proposal and proposal process. In addition, provides support to IQB’s global sales teams and IMD by attending annual internal medicine conferences to continue to develop and foster client relationships

  • Develops strong working relationships with key members of the IQB operational management team, especially leadership within the IMD, to ensure Sales and Operational goals are aligned 

  • Development and review of the budget (labor and pass-through costs) associated with the proposed project strategy. The budget should be competitive and in line with the contribution margin targets and pricing strategy agreed with Sales, leadership, and other stakeholders

  • Define and communicate the project team profile and organizational structure that will enable operational managers to identify and assign team members that can meet the customer’s needs and successfully secure the project award

  • Facilitate a comprehensive handover of the project strategy to the delivery team and facilitate their understanding so that they can confidently present the project strategy to the client and the internal stakeholders

  • Actively involved with industry events to gather intelligence and enhance the public perception and market penetration of the IMD; provides updates on industry intelligence back to internal teams

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise of the clinical research service and biotechnology industries

  • Demonstrated expertise around the lifecycle of general medicine drug development with ability to strategically analyze general medicine clinical trial protocols

  • Familiarity with the sales process and service model of clinical research services

  • Demonstrated ability to interact across numerous functional groups (both external and internal personnel) and in a team-based work environment

  • Demonstrated expertise in branding, marketing, and strategic targeting of a general medicine -specific message

  • Strong technical and computer skills to support data analysis, customization, and reporting

  • Strong relationship development, communications, presentation, and negotiations skills

  • Demonstrated track record as a self-starter, showing personal initiative and resourcefulness to drive results

  • Excellent judgment in the execution of the duties and responsibilities of this position

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent); advanced degree (MS, MD, PhD) in general medicine/relevant healthcare related field preferred 

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in either the academic, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or clinical research industries

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in internal medicine clinical trial implementation, therefore having the ability to analyze a protocol and develop strategic pricing and operational solutions; must have strong internal medicine therapeutic experience with demonstrated exposure to a customer service setting.  Global experience preferred

  • Recent experience in operational and/or business development roles at a biotechnology company or CRO with a specific focus towards general medicine   

  • Fluency with Excel and PowerPoint manipulation to facilitate budget analysis and presentations

  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Critical Job Functions in Accordance with ADA Criteria

  • Very little physical effort required to perform normal job duties

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 30%

Classification

This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act; employees are not eligible for overtime compensation.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $109,800.00 - $203,800.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
