Job Overview

The Strategic Operations Director will provide strategic oversight and leadership for a multi-functional program encompassing Data Management, Biostatistics, and Statistical Programming for a single client account. This role is highly collaborative, requiring close engagement with the client counterpart and partnership across internal business functions, including finance, invoicing, contracts, and functional delivery teams. Initially focused on one client, this position has the potential to expand to additional accounts in the future.

Essential Functions

  • Provide strategic planning and operational oversight for a multi-functional portfolio (Data Management, Biostatistics, Statistical Programming) within a single client account.

  • Act as the primary operational liaison with the client counterpart, ensuring alignment on program objectives, governance, and delivery expectations.

  • Partner closely with internal teams (finance, invoicing, contracts, and functional delivery) to ensure seamless execution of client programs and adherence to contractual obligations.

  • Direct delivery against key metrics, milestones, and financial objectives, including portfolio margin targets, quality standards, and timelines.

  • Lead development and implementation of operational norms and governance frameworks specific to the client account.

  • Oversee resource forecasting and pipeline reviews in collaboration with functional teams to support future client needs.

  • Serve as the escalation point for client management issues, recommending and implementing action plans as needed.

  • Participate in client governance committees and internal strategic planning forums.

  • Support business development activities, including proposals, budgets, and commercial feasibility assessments for potential expansions.

  • Ensure adherence to global best practices across all teams supporting the client account.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business Management, or related field required.

  • 12+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, CRO, or related industry, including exposure to clinical operations and functional areas such as data management, biostatistics, and statistical programming.

  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-functional programs and deliver results against quality, timeline, and financial metrics.

  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

  • Excellent leadership and team collaboration capabilities.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and related tools.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and clients.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $108,100.00 - $300,800.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
