Pharma Forecasting Consultant
Job Description
Job Overview
Provides high quality, on-time input to client projects in the forecasting field. Assignments range in complexity from basic analysis and problem solving to assisting in the development of more complex solutions. Serve as a project leader directly coordinating with the US clients and fulfilling the project requirement.
Operational Responsibilities
o Participate or lead consulting-based, forecasting projects
o Provide detailed reports to the reporting manager on the current projects, progress, risks/challenges, work pipeline, etc.,
o Perform extensive research to build a detailed forecast methodology for the given forecasting / business problem
o Undertake market analysis to include details on the market characteristics (market size and growth, prescriptions, days of therapy, patient types, market share, number of competitors, market trends, market attractiveness); competitor characteristics (product characteristics, competitor marketing strategies, sales force activities, pricing analysis); prescriber characteristics (number of prescribers by specialty, physician prescription activity, desires and unmet needs) as may be relevant to support forecasts
o Integrate qualitative and quantitative data and present forecasting results in a structured manner; bring out value-added insights to the clients
o Critically think through to answer the ‘so-what’ from a client perspective
o Clearly communicate project outputs, identify risks and highlight to relevant stakeholders
o Deliver high quality, client-ready output with minimal supervision; identify risks / issues and escalate to the project leads in a timely manner
o Deliver modules with complete story boarding as part of larger consulting projects
People Responsibilities
o Manage project team(s), provide regular feedback and offer step-up opportunities to develop advanced skills, and manage professional development on projects
o Mentor individuals, apart from project teams, in their career and professional aspirations
Other responsibilities:
o Support Functional Head on staffing and execution plan
- Provides inputs on the methodology, schedule, and staffing and closely monitors for any deviation
o Guide project team, conduct reviews, and ensure highest quality deliverable
o Manage all internal/external communication
o Conduct performance reviews – Project team/ Direct reports
o Monitor and flag risks related to projects, process, people, and infrastructure
o Monitor and report KPIs related to project/ team
o Design and conduct skill-based internal training sessions
o Plan and take responsibility of knowledge management, quality and process improvement
Qualification & Skills
• Graduate/Post-graduate Degree in Life Sciences from a premier institute is a must. PG in business administration with a Marketing related specialization is preferred
• Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in direct client facing role within Pharmaceutical/ Biotechnology/ Consulting/ Professional Services Outsourcing company in delivering forecasting–based consulting projects
• Should demonstrate strong fundamentals on domain, project management, client influencing and relationship building skills
• Strong analytical, problem solving (qualitative and quantitative), interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Understanding of forecasting and S&OP processes
• Strong understanding about the healthcare datasets
• Strong understanding of fundamental processes across pharmaceutical commercial business, their interaction, and the impact of external/internal influences on effectively develop and deliver forecasts as well as on decision making
• Extensive understanding of major pharmaceutical market events such as US drug formulary, pricing, inventory challenges and market access implications
• Experience in building sophisticated models to support short-term and long-term strategic forecast requirements
• Experience on modeling and incorporation of standard industry datasets and epidemiology databases
• Experience in statistical applications like Forecast Pro, @ Risk, Crystal Ball.
• Experience in Oncology/Specialty Products/Rare disease is preferred
• Strong capability in juggling priorities so that deadlines are met while retaining consistently high-quality outcomes
• Comfortable with short-term travel and long-term relocation to US.
• Candidates with valid B1 visa would be ideal.
• Client management and capability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Comfortable working with US shift (5 PM – 2AM IST OR 6PM -3 AM IST during daylight saving)
